Safety
Squamish Terminals is committed to the establishment, promotion, and maintenance of a safe and healthy workplace, within the standards of the longshore industry and in compliance with Human Resource and Skills Development Canada regulations (Canada Labour Code Part II). The responsibility to meet this commitment is shared by management, administration, supervisors and longshore employees. This cooperative effort at all levels helps Squamish Terminals achieve a successful Health and Safety program and a safe workplace for all employees.
Security
Squamish Terminals has always maintained a manned 24-hour security gate as well as comprehensive security procedures. In recent years security procedures have had to become more formalized to meet the requirements of international trade. On June 1, 2004, Squamish Terminals’ security protocols were registered with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) under Port Facility Number 5048 and on June 30, 2004 Squamish Terminals’ Security Plan was recognized by Transport Canada under Certificate SC000069. Without these two documents Squamish Terminals cannot participate in international trade.
Squamish Terminals is required to monitor and secure its entire perimeter at all times and to report every unauthorized access to Transport Canada. Failure to follow these procedures can result in the loss of security certificates and the ability to operate. Consequently, we take every security incident very seriously.
Squamish Terminals is proud and appreciative of the ongoing cooperation with the Squamish Windsports Society to ensure we can meet our security obligations with minimal impact on wind sport users enjoyment of the surrounding waters.
